SHORT STORY ABOUT THE BREED
The Japanese Bobtail owes its name to its very short, pompom-shaped tail, characteristic of the breed. There are two types: the Japanese short haired bobtail, and the Japanese long haired bobtail. Most official bodies consider them to be two varieties of the same breed, but the TICA (The International Cat Association) considers each of them a breed in its own right.
The oldest traces of this Japanese Bobtail kittens for sale breed date back to the 6th century. But despite its name japanese bobtail cat, it is likely that it actually originated from China or Korea. Some ancient Japanese texts say that the cat was initially given at that time as a sign of friendship by the Emperor of China or by the Emperor of Korea to the Emperor of Japan. According to another hypothesis, the Japanese Bobtail would have been imported to Japan by the first Buddhist monks (also from Korea, at the same time), because they used it to fight against rodents in order to protect books and documents in rice paper stored in temples. Whatever its origin, it is believed to be a natural race, that is to say that it was neither created nor modified by the hand of Man. Originally, the Japanese Bobtail was particularly popular with silkworm breeders in Japan because of its incredible house skills. It allowed them to get rid of rodents for good. The imperial family also quickly fell under the spell of the race, and granted it privileges reserved for the nobles: all the care was given to it. In the 10th century, Emperor Idi-Jo even went so far as to import other specimens from Korea in order to protect his manuscripts from small rodents. In 1602, due to the invasion of rats that destroyed silkworm farms and rice crops, the Japanese authorities decreed that cats should no longer be domesticated, but let loose on farms and in the streets. Thus, feeding, buying or selling cats was prohibited. The Japanese Bobtail Cat then became the " alley cat " of Japan. It was still many centuries before it was known outside Asia. It is not to the Japanese that the breed owes its officialization and international recognition, but rather to an American breeder by the name of Judy Crawford, who brought back from her trip to Japan in 1968 . She then decided to join forces with Elizabeth Ferret, another American breeder, to try to have the Japanese Bobtail recognized by different organizations. The breed was officially recognized by the CFA (Cat Fancier's Association) in 1976, and by the FIFe in 1990. It has since spread on American soil, and is now also recognized by the other two great American organizations that are the American Cat Fanciers' Association (ACFA) and The International Cat Association (TICA).
CHARACTER
The Japanese Bobtail is an intelligent , playful and very curious cat , who exudes the joy of life. Very difficult to upset, he is constantly alert and ready to discover all that is new in the house. His curiosity drives him to explore every corner of his home, and allows him to easily adapt to new environments, which makes him a perfect travel companion.
His extrovert character helps him express himself and be understood. He is a very talkative cat , who is sure to respond by meowing to anyone who speaks to him. Without being particularly loud, he has a lot to say, and a whole range of meows and sounds at his disposal to say them! Attached to his master, he can follow him all day without getting tired, without being noticed by excessive meowing or disturbing behavior. It is possible to train your cat , because it is rather clever and of a playful nature: thus, it can easily learn some tricks and understand some orders. You can even walk your cat on a leash , if you manage to make him see it as a game, so that he will find it interesting. However, he can be stubborn, so that it is sometimes difficult to change his mind on certain points (for example, on what he can or cannot do).In addition, this felid has a very great trigger and can leap to impressive heights. Providing him with suitable perches or toys will encourage him to jump around and exercise.
You must also make sure to give him a few minutes of play every day, as this is necessary for his development. It is also a breed of cat adapted with children , with whom it shares energy and enthusiasm. It also readily accepts the presence of strangers and other animals. In the case of a dog, bringing them little by little in the presence of each other, if possible when the cat is still young, makes it possible to facilitate their understanding and their cohabitate
HEALTH
The Japanese Bobtail Cat does not present any particular genetic disease. His athletic build makes him one of the most vigorous cats, and he enjoys iron health. A cat's life expectancy is around 15 years, making it one of the longest-living cat breeds
MAINTENANCE
Due to its very little undercoat, the Japanese Bobtail's coat is not prone to knots and therefore requires relatively little maintenance. In the case of a short-haired Japanese Bobtail, weekly brushing is normally sufficient. For a long-haired Japanese Bobtail, brushing your cat's hair on a daily basis, without being essential, allows the fur to retain its beauty and shine. In both cases, the Japanese Bobtail molts seasonally, in spring and fall. The long-haired variety has a substantial molt. Regardless, the Japanese Bobtail's mischievous character makes it very playful when it comes to grooming. Unlike some of his peers, it is not usually a moment that he hates - all the more reason not to excuse it! The Japanese Bobtail's fur is waterproof, which means bathing and shampooing your cat is difficult. Fortunately, these two tasks are seldom necessary. In addition, to prevent tartar formation and the development of infections such as gingivitis , it is recommended to brush your cat's teeth regularly. Daily brushing is ideal, but weekly frequency is still satisfactory.
Finally, it is advisable to check the condition of your cat's ears at regular intervals, and to clean it if they seem
dirty. .

Pets also need food and water containers. However, when you’re buying such stuff, it is best that you invest in ceramic, this is essential particularly if you are bringing home a cat. Plastic contains can make small pits in which molds, viruses, and bacteria can hide. So to avoid this, use ceramic food and water container and clean them on a regular basis. On the other hand, when your munchkin cat is already big, you should invest in a water fountain that has a pump that is circulating. Keep in mind that all cats need to drink plenty of water so that they will be able to fight any disease including urinary tract infection and kidney problems.
